It's an annual race that takes to the skies. The Great Plains Balloon Race takes place this Saturday June 11, 2011 and it always draws a large crowd!
Balloon Pilot and President of the Sioux Falls Ballooning Association, Duane Waack joined us on the morning show Wednesday to tell us more about the race and a little glance at what it takes to fly one of these large floating bags of hot air.

Watch 30 hot air balloons from across the Midwest take to the skies in a race of skill pitting pilot against the elements and their balloons.
Launch Times: 6 AM, 6:30 PM (If two flights are not accomplished on Saturday and additional flight will be on Sunday June 12 at 6 AM)
In addition to the spectacle of the flying balloons there will be the very popular "Walk In Balloon", a balloon that is filled with cold air so that spectators can walk around and play in it.
