If you're looking to make the next step in your career, or you're simply looking for some part-time work to make a little extra cash, the KDLT Career Fair Wednesday is a great place to start.
Greg Johnson with the South Dakota Department of Labor says unemployment in the state is at a record low. Lincoln County reports the lowest numbers at 1.6 percent in August. Minnehaha County had a 2.2 percent unemployment rate, one of the lowest in the nation. Johnson says South Dakota has a very diverse economy that allows for a wide variety of jobs and industries. He says as of Tuesday morning, there are about 2,800 jobs openings listed on the South Dakota DOL job board.
Dannette Tobin, sales manager at KDLT, says those coming to the career fair Wednesday should bring plenty of resumes and arrive ready for interviews. There will be 48 companies available who will be able to conduct interviews on site. Fields range from retail, customer service, healthcare, and more, and there will be full-time, part-time, and seasonal jobs open.
The KDLT Career Fair will be Wednesday, September 28 at The District from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It is free to attend. For more information, click here.
