SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -

Even though we're just getting our first snow of the season, there's never a bad time for ice cream. Dairy Queen is partnering with LifeScape to make this holiday season memorable for families across the Sioux Empire.

Kim Haiar, director of development at LifeScape, says the organization's mission is to empower children and adults with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives and have a life like any one else. Haiar says it brings her job to see when people are helped by their organization. The Holiday Blessings program is about helping local children and adults get some of the items on their holiday wish list.

Shay Farwell from Dairy Queen says a lot of the gift requests she seeing are such simple things, like socks, clothing, books. To participate, all you have to do is visit a Sioux Falls DQ and select an ornament off the Christmas tree in the lobby. Buy the item on the list, bring it back wrapped, and as a treat you'll get a free ice cream cone!

The Holiday Blessings program runs through December 20. You can find more information here.
