The new year is about to start, and it's a great time to get your girls involved in the Girl Scouts.
Nancy Tapken with Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons says she wants parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles to understand what Girl Scouts can look like for your family and how it can fit into your life. She says the breadth and diversity of experience for girls is more than the stereotypical cookies, crafts, and camping. She says each girl's experience is whatever they want it to be-- the troops are driven by what the girls want to do, whether that's rock climbing, building robots, learning to run a business, cooking, traveling the country, and more. Tapken says the Girl Scouts are all about building up the next generation of leaders, regardless of what each girl grows up to be-- a CEO, a mom, or both!
Tapken says their volunteers are pivotal in the organization, and she is thankful for their volunteers and could always use more.
The Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons will hold a Parent Info Night at the GSDH office Tuesday night at 6 p.m. It is free to attend, and all family members are invited to learn more.
