Mall of America Will Close Thanksgiving Day

The Mall of America, the nation's largest shopping center, is making a bold move this holiday season. The shopping center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year.

The Mall of America has been open on Thanksgiving since 2012 and says it's giving the day back to employees so that they can spend time with their families. About 1,200 mall employees will have guaranteed time off.

The mall will reopen at 5 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving—just in time for the Black Friday rush.
