SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -

Sioux Falls Police Department, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Paramedics Plus responded to the 400 block of S. Sycamore Avenue for any injury car versus pedestrian collision.

The involved vehicle was traveling south on Sycamore Avenue in the outside lane driven by a 50-year-old Sioux Falls resident.

The 72-year-old female pedestrian entered into the lane of traffic from the curb and was struck by the vehicle.

The woman was unconscious and unresponsive for initial emergency units and was transported to McKennan Hospital. Crews on scene tell KDLT News the woman's injuries were downgraded from life-threatening.

The vehicle then left the roadway and impacted a garage structure causing major damage to the building and an unattended vehicle inside.

The roadway was shut down with barricades, the scene was turned over to the Traffic Section as the investigation is still ongoing.
