This time of year, homeowners are busy raking leaves in their yards. Sioux Falls officials have a couple reminders to keep the city clean while you're at it.
According to city law, residents aren't allowed to rake leaves into the streets. Instead, you have to take them to a city drop-off site. There's one at 1015 East Chambers Street and another at 100 North Lyon Boulevard. Both are open through Sunday, November 27, except for Thanksgiving Day. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $3 per load for cars, pickups, SUVs, vans and/or two-wheel trailers.
The city's also asking people to remove leaves from curbs or gutters outside of their homes. This keeps storm drains clean and unclogged for rain or melting snow.
