A Sioux Falls man is behind bars for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Police say 19-year-old Miguel Lopez is facing 11 felony counts of 2nd degree rape. It comes after police say a family member reported the girl missing on Sept. 22. Police say she was located at the Empire Mall Monday afternoon with Lopez. The two met through mutual friends and Lopez told the girl he was 15.

"That was the reason I guess they initially started hanging out. She thought he was the same age. She didn't realize he was an adult until after the officers found the two of them together," said Officer Sam Clemens.

Police discovered that the two had sex on several occasions.
