Students at Washington High School in Sioux Falls had the opportunity to receive free dental care Tuesday.

The Delta Dental Mobile Program came to the school to give needed care to students who can't afford it.

First, a dentist examines the patient's teeth. Then they schedule follow-up appointments for later in the week to offer services like fluoride treatments and sealants.

One dentist has seen more than 25 students so far this week.

“It's very rewarding; I mean that's why I'm still doing dentistry. That's why I enjoy it so much,” says Dennis Mills, a Delta Dental Mobile Program dentist.

For nearly 20 percent of the patients treated, it's their first time seeing a dentist.

The mobile program will return to Sioux Falls next week at Lincoln High School.
