SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -

Election results for South Dakota are facing a delay of 15 minutes.

According to Pennington County Auditor Julie Pearson, a polling location at South Middle School in Rapid City was delayed for 15 minutes due to a fire alarm incident. Pearson says they are unsure of what the incident was, but it was not a drill. The polling location now has to be open for 15 minutes longer to make up for the lost time.

All voters and ballots were safe and secured.

The state now cannot release election results until 8:15 central time by law. Secretary of State Shantel Krebs says that live election results are going to be released at 8:30 p.m. central time.

Krebs says a second location in South Dakota is to remain open beyond set hours due to opening late. She says a location in St. Francis, located in Todd County did not open until 7:15 a.m. central time. That location is to stay open until 7:15 p.m. central time.
