MITCHELL, S.D. -

A man suspected of making a homemade explosive device in Pukwana has pleaded not guilty to several charges related to his eventual arrest in Mitchell.

Forty-two-year-old Donald Pickner entered his pleas Tuesday to charges of possession of methamphetamine, obstructing law enforcement and resisting arrest. He's to stand trial in December.

Authorities say they discovered a homemade explosive device in Pickner's Pukwana home on Sept. 7 and detonated the device two days later. Pickner was arrested in Mitchell on Sept. 26 following a foot chase and a scuffle with officers.

No charges have been filed in connection with the alleged explosive device.
