SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -

Employees at the Dairy Queen on Minnesota Ave. are doing their part to help those in need.

The store looks like any other ice cream shop you walk into, until you look up.

Patients at the Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls painted the ceiling tiles.

The store manager says those that have to stay in the hospital for three weeks or less have the chance to make their mark at the restaurant.

The idea came after one of the store's employee’s daughter became ill.

"Unfortunately she did not make it,” says manager Jill Willard. “But we went through it with her and just seeing the little kids and all that they go through, they're so strong and if they can come in and we can make them smile or make their day a little bit brighter, that’s our goal.”

The store also sponsors one child in the Children's Miracle Network every month, and donates 20 percent of their sales every Monday from  11a.m. to 3 p.m.
