SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -

Students at Garfield Elementary in Sioux Falls went home a special gift on their feet Wednesday.

Each child received a pair of shoes thanks to the Bobs from Skechers program. In coordination with Shoe Carnival, Fashion Direct and Lutheran Social Services, each student was properly sized for their own pair of new shoes. They also got to make them their own by decorating them.

More than 700 pairs of shoes were given away.

"This year we are scheduled to donate more than one million pairs and then we are nearing the 14 million pair mark all together through the Bobs from Skechers program,” says Lara Diab, a public relations officer for Skechers.

Skechers has been doing the program since 2010, donating shoes all over the world. This was their first visit to South Dakota.
