Rock and roll enthusiasts gathered at the Washington Pavilion today to hear the latest inductees to the South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Eight bands with South Dakota ties made the cut, with five of them performing for the annual induction concert in April. Wild Cherry, Precious Cargo, '70's iowa flippers, The Unbelievable Uglies and Wakefield are set to perform.

Mylan Ray, a South Dakota Rock and Roll Music Association member says they try to pick bands from earlier years while they are still able to perform.

“They're going to be blown away by the fact that these are some bands that haven't played together maybe in some instances, 20 to 30 years and how great they sound,” Ray says.

The inductees’ performances date back to as early as 1962. The bands will perform April 22, 2017 at the Ramkota Exhibit Hall in Sioux Falls.
