SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -

As veterans across the country were thanked for their service Friday, a select few former service members in Sioux Falls spent their Veteran's Day dancing the night away.

The El Riad Shrine and Ballroom Dance Club hosted a "V-day Throwback Dance."

"If you look at the posters you see around here its talking about buying war bonds and back when we were kids we bought stamps for the cause and it was a time of everyone getting together to do it right,” said Walt Leyse.

"More of an upbeat way I guess of celebrating Veteran’s Day. Kind of a kickback to some of the days when dancing was really fun and really important. I think they're even going to do some Charleston tonight!” said veteran Lloyd Schipper, who played the trumpet in the El Riad Shrine Big Band.
