MINOT, N.D. -

The Augustana soccer team fought tooth-and-nail until the bitter end of the NSIC Championship Game, but came up short against Minnesota State, 1-0. The Vikings are now 13-5-3 on the season and their 13 victories are tied for the third most in program history.

Augustana appeared in their second consecutive NSIC Tournament Championship match and are now 1-1 all-time in conference title games. The Vikings are now 5-6 all-time in the NSIC Tournament.

Hannah Keirstead, Ellie Knowles, Taylor Machacek and Emily Jacobson were named to the NSIC All-Tournament team. It is Machacek's and Jacobson's second consecutive season being named to the All-Tournament tea.

The lone goal of the match came in the 70th minute when MSU's Dakota Wendell snuck a ball into the corner of the net.

Minnesota State outshot Augustana 27-6 and had nine shots on goal compared to one by the Vikings.

Machacek was stellar in the net again for the Viking like she has been the whole NSIC Tournament. Machacek recorded eight saves on 27 shots faced.

Offensively, Samantha Schorzman had the most shots for the Vikings with 2. Keirstead had the lone shot on goal for Augustana.

The Vikings will have to wait and see if they qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The full championship selections will be announced on Monday, Nov. 7 via a webcast selection show on www.NCAA.com at 5:30 p.m. (CT). The regional tournament will begin November 11 & 13 at regional campuses.
