Aaron Beavers is no longer the head coach of the Lincoln football program.

KDLT Sports has confirmed that Lincoln High School Football players were told prior to today's practice that Beavers would no longer be coach.

Assistant coach Brian Bechard has been named head coach and is already listed as such on the South Dakota High School Activities Association's website.

No reason for Beavers departure has yet been given.  It is also unclear whether this was a mutual parting, resignation or firing.  A phone call to Beavers went to voicemail.

Beavers has been at Lincoln since 2000, taking over as head coach in 2003. He led the Patriots to consecutive 11AAA State Championships in 2013 and 2014.

Beavers is a USF alum and also spent four years as head coach at Gregory where he won the State 11B Title with the Gorillas in 1998.

This year's Lincoln team is currently 2-2 and plays at Aberdeen tomorrow at 5 PM.

Stay with KDLT as we will continue to follow this developing story.
