BROOKINGS, S.D. -

The college football season kicked off over the weekend, and few teams had longer odds to win their opener than South Dakota State.  The Jackrabbits were 37 point underdogs against Big 12 power TCU.

So imagine the shock across the country as South Dakota State spent much of the night ahead or tied with the Frogs!

Jake Wieneke caught eight passes for 196 yards and two scores, Taryn Christion threw for a career high 333 yards, throwing three scores and running for another as the Jackrabbits trailed the Frogs 45-41 late in the fourth.

TCU pulled away to win thanks in part to some lucky bounces.  As many praise State for playing up to the level of a Big 12 power, the Jacks are from from satisfied with it.

SDSU opens the brand new Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on Saturday at 6 PM against Drake.
