Boy it has been a windy day hasn’t it? We saw gusts of 30 to 40 mph more most of the day and it even stole my Cubs flag. So if anyone finds a 10x14 inch W flag in western Sioux Falls, let me know!  Wind has subsided as a cold front as passed through, but with that we have seen some showers. We haven’t see much accumulation with that, maybe a couple tenths in some spots, but overall just a light sprinkle or shower. The sun has emerged back into central South Dakota and we will have more of that tomorrow, but maybe not for the whole weekend…

Clouds will filter out of the area tonight, except into the Tri-State area where we will stay mostly cloudy for much of the night. This will lead to low temperatures into the mid to upper 50s, while to the north and out west we will be closer to the upper 40s and low 50s. Wind tonight should continue to die down and turn to the southwest and then to the northwest as we roll into Friday. There is a small chance at some showers and storms into northwest Iowa as we start the day on Friday, but overall I think we will stay dry. Skies will quickly clear by the afternoon with nothing but sunshine expected throughout the evening. That will allow the temperatures to warm up nicely into the low to mid 70s, maybe even some spots near 80!

Overnight into early Saturday clouds will increase bringing us some rain along the Missouri River. Rain will continue into Saturday which will keep things cool into them id 60s. Clouds will be likely all over the area, but rain should stay scattered and to the south of HWY-14 for the most part. We don’t expect this to be too heavy. Sunday shows more sunshine and clearing with storm chances in northeast South Dakota, but overall breezy and warm!

MEMORIAL DAY FORECAST: Each day this week we had mentioned a chance for rain on Memorial Day with the caveat that things could change. And how about that, things are looking better and better! Temperatures will still be a bit below normal into the upper 60s and low 70s, but right now things are looking nice and sunny! Wind will be a bit of an issue gusting from the northwest at 15 to 30 mph, but overall we should stay very nice!
