It's going to be a gloomy Monday for some of us (even though the Monday is pretty gloomy anyways...) as system number one moves through the KDLT viewing area this afternoon. We'll see southerly winds turn out of the north as the cold front moves through during this afternoon, sparking showers and possibly an isolated thunderstorm. This cold front is also going to help move in another low which is going to bring winter back into the viewing area with the chance for snow as we go into the end of the week.
We are going to see clouds across the viewing area however, from west to east, the clouds are going to clear as cooler and drier air moves into the viewing area. Showers are going to be possibly throughout the afternoon, there could be a rumble of thunder or two as well since there is a little bit of energy in the atmosphere. The best chance for a possible thunderstorm is going to be into the late morning/early afternoon and will be possible across the southeast/east. Not expecting any severe weather with these storms... it's still too early for that.
The first system will exit the viewing area and the northern plains by later this evening and we'll see clearing continue and remain clear across all of the viewing area by Tuesday. Our next system begins to move in and as it does it's going to bring the chance for some mixed precipitation on Wednesday across the west and the north and will turn more over to snow for everyone by Thursday and continue into Friday. There will be windy conditions as well so we at KDLT Weather are monitoring this developing system and will continue to keep you updated through Facebook and Twitter.
Upper 50s and low 60s underneath a mix or partly cloudy and mostly cloudy sky conditions with rain showers, possibly a thunderstorm, throughout the day. Winds are going to be breezy as they turn out from the south to the northwest.
Clear and warm skies through Wednesday then, our second system moves through and brings back the cooler air as well as the chance for snow starting Wednesday through Friday. By the weekend, we are nearly 30/40 degrees cooler than where we were this past weekend, only climbing into the upper 20s to low 30s.
