It's been a busy day for everyone helping out at the precincts and it could be an even longer night.
County Auditor Bob Litz said although the day has been non-stop, the process has been running smoothly.
"It's been working out quite well, there are just a few minor things, but as far as I can tell things have been going good,” said Litz.
Over 470 people are working at precincts across the county answering phones and helping voters through the process.
“The way it will go is we will count the regular precincts as they come in and they will show up partially done on the Secretary of States website and then we count these precincts and add them in later on,” said Litz.
Around 17,000 residents are expected to vote in Minnehaha county which could make for a long night ahead.
“We’ll probably be here until midnight counting votes and however long it takes to sort out,” said Litz.
The polls are set to close at 7 p.m. Tuesday night and then the process of counting the votes will begin.
