For some running backs moving the chains would be considered a sucessful game but for Zach Zenner it's been all about big runs for scores..
On his way to rushing nearly 1500 hundred yards thorugh 8 games Zenner ran an 87 yarder at indiana State and an 88 yarder at home against Missiouri State. (He also had a 99-yarder at Kansas)
Zach Zenner, SDSU RB: "The Long runs are usually the easier ones because everone has done their job and most of them I feel like I havent been touched."
Breaking the century mark in all but one game through 8, Zenner's coach knows how vital a strong running game is for the Jacks...
John Stiegelmeier, SDSU Football Coach:" When you run the football you have an effect on every part of the game, You have an effect on special teams obviosuly with field position, you have an effect on the other team's defense because that's discouraging on and on.. running the football over and over has an effect..."
And Zenner's consistancy came as no surpise to coach Stiegelmeier.
Coach:"The only thing that suprises me about Zach is the amount of long runs he's had. I knew he was going to go hard I knew he was a straight a head kind of guy, I didn't think, imagine that he'd have that many but he's going to get at least get one in every game."
While Zenner enjoys the big runs.. he says he wants more for his team.
Zenner:"Knowing that we can play better. That's something that we've talked about on offense we really haven't played what we think is our best game..."
Trying to make the big rushing plays.. deep into the playoffs..
