Residents of the Sioux Empire have a chance to donate to victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Beginning Monday and going through Saturday, Parker Transfer and Storage will be collecting non-perishable food items.
A driver with North Western Warehouse and Allied Van Lines who lost everything during Hurricane Katrina decided he wanted to pay-it-forward.
So he is volunteering his time to drive a trailer from South Dakota to the East Coast.
"So far we have 3,500 pounds here in our warehouse. And the truck in Rapid City has 38,000 pounds of food,” said Matt Parker, of Parker Transfer and Storage.
By Saturday morning when the truck begins its journey to the East Coast, the goal is to have 40,000 pounds of food.
