Wal-Mart stores across the country paired up with the Salvation Army on Saturday as part of a nationwide toy drive and the Wal-Mart on Louise Avenue was no exception.
As shoppers entered the store, they received a list of suggested gifts to help provide toys and coats to local children in need this Christmas. Members of the Salvation Army as well a special guest volunteer were on hand to collect the gifts.
"It's a time to think about people who are less fortunate and don't have coats to keep warm or children who aren't going to get gifts on Christmas and I think it's a great time for those of use who are more fortunate to give and give back,” said Adam Timmerman, a former NFL offensive lineman.
The Salvation Army will bring the donations to the First United Methodist Church on Spring Street and distribute the gifts to children in need.
