Multiple Ways To Get Flu Vaccine

Bookmark and Share

Some health officials believe this could be the worst flu season in years. South Dakota has already has one death due to the virus.

The flu season starts in October and stretches into May. Doctors said it isn’t too late to get a flu shot. And for people who really don’t like shots, there is good news.

"This year there is a new vaccine that is intradermal and it is a finer shorter needle,” said Wendy Vetter, D.O. Sanford Health.

There is also a flu mist vaccine that goes into your nose. The 2012-2013 vaccine also will protect against H1N1. Doctors want to remind patients that it takes two weeks for the shot to help protect your immune system.
