People all over the world, waiting for the countdown that will lead us into 2013, celebrate New Years Eve, including people in Sioux Falls.
"Kissing him at midnight," said Gyan Hardman, Sioux Falls resident.
Gyan Hardman said that's what she's looking forward to leading into the New Year, she and Jason have been together four years.
"We've got the world in front of us next year, its going to be a great year," said Hardman.
They have planned to venture downtown, then head to the Grand Falls Casino.
While some people celebrate the New Year out in the city, residents like Brenda Johnson, will be counting down to 2013 at home.
"We will be watching the ball drop at home, keeping our kids up late, letting them have fun and enjoy their holiday break," said Johnson.
Not only do people prepare for their New Years Eve, so do businesses, such as Icon Lounge.
"It's going to be just an experience for all that's involved," said Summer Larscheid with the Icon Lounge.
Icon Lounge is hosting a Champagne Ball, benefiting the Make A Wish Foundation, which grants wishes for children facing life-threatening diseases.
"Two lucky children will be granted their wish," said Larscheid.
The ball will include music by Kory and the Fireflies, champagne and party favors.
Whether people are listening to music on New Years Eve or spending time with family at home, a new year gets people looking ahead to the future.
"Spending time with my family and having a good year, for all of us, healthy and happy," said Johnson.
Along with New Years kisses.
