Between the pipes. That's where a hockey goalie lives out on the ice.
"You know, Chuck's always, ever since I've known him he's been a pretty solid guy. Even at practice, it's hard to score on him and I really don't like shooting on him because it just brings down my confidence," said Zeb Knutson.
"Yeah, Chuck's real dependable play. He can really stonewall. He's a great athlete and him and Jan Obernesser are a great one two punch that we have in nets," said Head Coach of the Stampede, Cary Eades.
Charlie, stop the puck Chuck, Lindgren has been a leader on the Stampede in the net with only one job, to stop the puck.
"He's been phenomenal. I mean, even you look back to last year, we didn't have the best season, but you know if we didn't have Lindgren in our net last year we probably wouldn't even of had as many wins as we did last year. I think it carried over into this season and like I said he's one of the returning core players that we needed back," said team mate Todd Skirving.
"Like I said, I think that experience from last year's guys, me included, I think that's really helping out and we're taking the young guys under our wing and I think that's why we're playing some good hockey right now," said Charlie Lindgren.
That experience carries over and it shows out on the ice.
"The more I play, it's just the more confidence I get. When I'm playing good hockey the confidence just goes up even more. Jan is the other goalie too and he's playing good hockey too so we've been switching on and off a little bit, but whatever helps the team win, that's the best thing."
"It's nice to have him in net. You have confidence if there's a two on one you're not freaking out like, "Oh we're going to go down a goal." You just have confidence in your goalie," said Knutson.
"He came back and he's bringing his 'A' game every night. He gives us a chance to win every night. When Lindgren's in net we're pretty confident having him back there with him and Jan. But you know what, Lindgren's been good for us. I'm looking forward to hopefully having him carry this team to a victory and playoffs and a championship here in Sioux Falls," said Skirving.
And it starts with one save at a time.
