The Coyotes and Jacks split a pair on the court, Washington and Mitchell Girls squared off on the hardwood and two South Dakota college coaches reached career milestones...all in this edition of your Scheels Plays of the Week.
We'll start off our countdown with the FCS Football title game between North Dakota State and Sam Houston State. The Bison attempted an extra point which was muffed by the holder, picked up by kicker Adam Keller who then connected with Sioux Falls O'Gorman grad Mike Hardie. Hardie caught the ball in the end zone for the 2-point conversion. The Bison went on to win 39-13.
Coming in at number four is High School Boys Basketball at Brandon Valley. Watertown guard Tanner Heiser drove to the basket, spun around and laid the ball off the glass scoring 2 of his 21 points, all in a losing effort against the Lynx 70 to 62.
Number three is Highschool Girls Basketball. Warrior forward Emma Hanson had 14 points, 10 rebounds and was a force in the middle blocking shots, as the number two ranked Washington beat number one, Mitchell 52 to 42.
Continuing on to number two is SDSU Women's basketball and Coach Aaron Johnston. Jack's Megan Waytashek recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds as SDSU topped Kansas City in Summit League action 82 to 47. This marked Coach Aaron Johnston's 300th career win.
And finally, at number one, is Coyote Men's basketball and Coach Dave Boots. During the match-up against arch-rival SDSU, guard Juevol Myles led the Yotes with 22 points and 5 assists as USD clenched a 74 to 71 win. This earned Dave Boots' 500th career win at USD...and those are your Scheels Plays of the Week.
