Reitmeier Won 1000th Career Match

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Augustana head coach Jason Reitmeier won his 100th
career match as the 13th-ranked Vikings downed Minot State University
39-15 at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals on Saturday night in
Springfield, Ill.

Reitmeier now owns a career record of 100-47 in his 10 seasons as the
Vikings’ head coach.

Augustana cruised to victory over fellow NSIC member Minot State earning
five wins by pinfall in the match.

The Vikings grabbed an early 6-0 lead as Minot State had to forfeit the
125-pound bout to Augustana’s TJ North.

Minot State tied the match at six in the 133-pound bout when Joshua
Douglas pinned Brandon Chesnut at 4:20.

Augustana picked up pins at 141 and 149 pounds to jump out to an 18-6
lead. Zach Friederich pinned Flynn Stormer at 1:01 of the first period
at 141 pounds before Nate Herda pinned Donovan Williams in 5:31 at 149
pounds.

Shawn Hatlestad picked up a 7-5 overtime decision over Marcus Polak at
157 pounds to bring the score to 21-6. Parker Swanson extended
Augustana’s lead to 27-6 pinning Ricard Avakovs in 1:24 at 165
pounds.

Minot State got back on the board at 174 pounds when Matt Fetterly
earned a 5-1 decision over Tom Davies making the score 27-6.

Sean Derry (184 pounds) and Jeff Nielsen (197 pounds) both picked up
pins and the Vikings had to forfeit the 285-pound bout as Augustana
cruised to a 39-15 victory over the Beavers.

Augustana returns to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on
Friday, Jan. 18, traveling to Southwest Minnesota State for a dual at 7
p.m. The Vikings will wrestle at home for the first time this season on
Sunday, Jan. 20, hosting Augsburg College at 2 p.m. at the Elmen Center.

197 – Jeff Nielsen (Augie) pinned Joe Johnson, 1:20, AC leads 39-9
285 – Bob Bartz (Minot) wins by forfeit, AC wins 39-15
