Avera Offers Free Screening For Hepatitis

Hundreds of South Dakotans are living with a ticking time bomb of a virus, and don’t even know it.
That’s why Avera Health is offering a free screening for people who may be carrying hepatitis c.
Workers say a simple blood test can determine if a person is infected. If they are, patients will undergo treatment and in most cases be cured.
Medical workers say baby boomers are most at risk, those born between 1945 and 1965.
By the time a person feels symptoms it is too late, and there has already been liver damage.
