Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls has been awarded $60,600 to build one home in Sioux Falls.
The grant provides 50% of the cost of construction, and was given to Habitat Sioux Falls by Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity, a unique partnership between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International.
Habitat Sioux Falls was given the award in conjunction with an announcement of a national gift made by Thrivent Financial on Dec. 17, 2012. The 2013 commitment from the organization is $6.8 million and will push the total giving from Thrivent Financial past $180 million, during the eight-year
partnership between the two organizations.
The local Habitat affiliate has built or rehabilitated 107 homes since 1991. Habitat Sioux Falls has completed 56 critical home repairs as a part of the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative since 2011.
