SF Residents React To Armstrong Interview

Bookmark and Share

He’s a household name, and perhaps the most famous cyclist in the world. After years of denials Lance Armstrong admitted to Oprah Winfrey he used performance-enhancing drugs.

Armstrong sat down with Oprah earlier this week for an exclusive interview that aired Thursday and Friday night on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

For millions it was a let down from the inspirational cancer survivor, who built a movement around his comeback after beating the disease.

Friday we got reaction from some Sioux Falls residents to see what they had to say about Armstrong’s interview.

Andrew Burkstaller said, “I wasn't surprised at all that he admitted to steroid use. He did sound a little robotic almost like he had been waiting for this day. I wasn't sure how honest it might have been but at least he came out and admitted it but he wasn't too willing to go into too much detail. It was pretty much the same answer throughout I felt.”

Brian Estes said, “A little surprised that he finally admitted it. I mean he went for so long blaming everybody else and telling everybody that they were liars and basically ruining other people's careers to keep himself clean. So it did surprise me that he came clean but it didn't surprise me that he had done it."

Those we talked to say their perception of Armstrong hasn’t changed, but they are glad they finally know the truth.
