U.S. Representative Kristi Noem was in Sioux Falls on Thursday morning. Her visit was part of the town hall series she is hosting in cities across the state.
About fifty people attended the meeting, which was held at the Downtown Holiday Inn. The congresswoman discussed topics including the national debt, her views on overspending in Washington as well as the importance of creating an annual budget.
Noem said she supports the No Budget, No Pay Act, which will essentially force Congress to set a budget each year or forfeit their pay. She said the budget hasn't been adjusted in four years.
“Back home that really resonates with people. They recognize that it is a fundamental part of their job and if they aren't doing their job, they shouldn't be paid,” said Representative Noem.
The town hall also consisted of a question and answer session where attendees expressed their concerns about topics such as payroll tax and healthcare issues.
