SD Delegate Reacts To President's Speech

Bookmark and Share

During President Barack Obama’s State Of The Union speech, the President addressed a number of controversial issues and members of congress sitting in the audience were not shy about hiding their reactions.

Earlier Tuesday night, Representative Kristi Noem said she was hoping the President would talk about bridging the gap and working together with members of the congress.

President Obama talked about handfuls of items such as immigration, 34,000 troops coming home from Afghanistan and gun control.

Representative Noem said a lot of the initiatives the President wants to enact are interesting but wonders how they will be paid for while dealing with the current deficit in place.

Noem also said she does not agree with President Obama’s use of executive orders.

"Some of the initiatives that he discussed during his speech would indicate that wasn't his true intentions I think a president who wants to work together with the house and senate to accomplish his objectives wouldn’t utilize executive orders to the amount he does," said Noem.

Representative Noem said the President lacked details for his initiatives and hopes to hear more of the Obama’s plans in the near future.

President Obama also talked about creating new jobs and manufacturing and to do more to combat climate change.
