SIOUX CENTER, IA -- The Dordt men's basketball team is returning to the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Branson, Missouri thanks in part to their talented senior class.
Cliff Warner, Trevor Walterstorff, Shawn Keizer, Jordan Vogel and Chris Sievers have been the foundation of a program that has risen to become one of the dominant programs in the GPAC. Wolterstorff and Warner each average over 14 points a game with Vogel pouring in 13 per game.
It's a close knit group whose leadership extends on and off the court.
"Oh, you know what it's very important to us. We wanted to come into senior year and we wanted to leave a mark and we wanted to play hard. And there's no doubt with all the suppor that we've gotten from the fans, it's just been great." Wolterstorff says.
"Well it's a great group of guys as a senior class. They're not only good basketball players who've done a lot of things in terms of winning on the court but tremendous leaders in the locker room and just have really raised the bar and expectations for us here." Head Coach Ross Douma says.
Dordt is the ten seed for the tournament and opens play on Thursday against Northwest (WA) at 10:15 AM.
