This season has been filled with a lot of firsts for the Augustana women's basketball team, none higher on the list than a first ever trip to the Elite 8 in San Antonio, Texas.
Once in Texas, they'll be in the company of teams and players from across the country. Augie's team is built on player's from the Midwest, may of whom we've had the chance to cover since they were in high school. And head coach Dave Krauth says having those familiar faces on his squad is a great thing.
"We recruit with that attitude that it's just nice to have local kids whether it be Sioux Falls or Egan or Lake Preston or wherever it may be, and that creates interest in your program but you do feel good for these small town kids," said Augustana head coach Dave Krauth.
"People from Pipestone who went here have been messaging me and calling me, saying 'I'm so proud of you, I'm so proud of your team. I'm so proud to call myself an Augustana alum and so it's really neat seeing the community is watching and behind us," said Faith Tinklenberg, an Augustana senior and Pipestone native.
Augustana will face #1 Clayton State on Tuesday.
