The Sioux Falls Pheasants have changed their team name back to the Canaries.
The organization announced they have officially changed the name of the franchise from the Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants back to the original name, Sioux Falls Canaries.
“Since our ownership group purchased the franchise last May, we have been watching closely and listening to our fans and it became very apparent that the community of Sioux Falls missed the Canaries,” said Canaries CEO/President Tom Garrity. “We are excited to bring the Canaries name and tradition of the club back to the fans of Sioux Falls. After a successful season last year that saw tremendous corporate sponsorship support and attendance rise by 72 percent, we are very eager to get this season started and build off what we started last year.”
The Canaries also announced promotional nights, daily ballpark specials and new ticket options for the upcoming 2013 season which begins on May 16 with the home opener set for Friday, May 17 at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Sioux City Explorers.
