A South Dakota official says people working to pass the General Educational Development test need to be aware that a new version of the test will be released next January.
State Labor Secretary Pam Roberts says the current version of the test expires Dec. 31. She says all scores will expire for people who have not passed all five required GED tests by then, so people needing to complete one or more of the tests should start the registration process immediately.
Roberts says the new tests released next year will be more rigorous and will be available on computer only.
The GED credential is recognized as the equivalent of a high school diploma.
