Bismarck Eliminates Blizzard

Bookmark and Share

BROOKINGS, S.D. --  The inaugural home playoff game in Brookings Blizzard history was also the end to their inaugural season.

Strong goaltending helped Bismarck complete a sweep of their first round NAHL playoff series, as the Bobcats eliminated the Blizzard 6-0 in Game 3.

Matt Pohlkamp got the Bobcats on the board two minutes into the game with a power play goal.  Aaron Nelson shut the door the rest of the way, stopping 25 Blizzard shots.  Drew Weigman held Bismarck in check until late in the second when Shane Omdahl and Stanislav Dzakhov tallied goals in the final five minutes.

Bismarck will play either Minot or Austin in the NAHL Division Finals.

Following their move from Alexandria, Minnesota, the Blizzard went 35-16-9 in their first season in Brookings.
