Coach Stiegelmeier's "Lucky" Beard Gone!

Bookmark and Share

BROOKINGS, S.D. --  The South Dakota State football team did not have a spring game thanks to mother nature.

Perhaps more importantly, on a lighter note, their coach no longer has a beard.

Coach John Stiegelmeier looks like a brand new man after shaving the "lucky" beard of 2012.  Though his players have a feeling it will make a return in 2013.

"Oh yeah, I'm sure he'll do it again! I mean, he has the whole team doing it and stuff. Lot of the guys growing out their beard and everything!" Senior DE Doug Peete says.

"The beard was simply for Hobo day/week 30 days before. We stuck with it because our son said if you shave it we're gonna have bad luck so I kept it!" Stiegelmeier says.

The Jacks open the 2013 season at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium on August 31st against Butler.
