12 Year old Yankton Archer is World Champ!

Most of us are introduced to sports with something soft.

Gabby Keiser started playing with arrows.

"Like 3.  But I wasn't competing in tournaments but I just did it for the fun of it." Keiser says.

"The bow was about the same size as her.  She really wanted to do that and I was shooting a bow at the time and so was her older brother.  So I felt like it was something that was really safe.  It's safer than ping pong.". Gabby's Mom Jennifer Varta says.

"We have little fun competitions, especially me and my brother."  Gabby says.

Nine years later the Yankton native is still shooting....

...and beating more than just her family.  Gabby had already won state and national archery titles, but never realized just how good she was until she went up against the best in the world.

"Few years ago when I was a world champion.  It felt great that I actually deserved it, worked for it and earned it."   Keiser says.

And now she's setting her sight on the greatest competition of all.

"Well I want to be in the 2020 Olympics to get a gold medal!". Gabby says.

"It's realistic and I have to remind myself that she will get there.  She's met and exceed all the goals she's set out.  So to be an Olympian I have confidence she'll do that."  Varta says.

And when Gabby aims for a target, she usually hits it.
