A group planning a pulse crop processing plant in the central South Dakota town of Harrold has reached its $2 million fundraising goal.
South Dakota Pulse Processors plans a public meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrold school to answer questions about the plant, which will process crops such as lentils, field peas and chickpeas for both U.S. and overseas markets.
The Pierre Economic Development Corp. has proposed buying 5 acres of land and constructing an 11,000-square-foot building on the west edge of Harrold to lease to South Dakota Pulse Processors.
Officials say the plant will provide a dozen jobs at startup.
