Tommy Follows in Brother's Footsteps

Bookmark and Share

You would think two brothers who have battled on the tennis court their whole lives would have the same type of strategy..

But for one state champion.. Brad Entwistle and his younger brother Tommy .. Who is in the hunt for a South Dakota title of his own.. thats just not the case.

Don Barnes, OG Coach:"they're totally two different players. Brad was more of a counter puncher puncher. Tommy goes after that first short ball he's not going to wait around too long."

Tommy Entwistle is a junior at O'gorman high school.. And still has a shot to do something his brother couldn't do.. Win a state championship before his senior year.

Tommy Entwistle says:"I'm doing pretty good right now. just trying to stay focused. stayed focused for the ultimate goal and that is the state tournament."

While Tommy has yet to beat his brother one on one.. He worries more about the competition ahead of him..

Even in practice.. His team takes note of tommy entwistle's intensity.

Tommy:"well I just try to work hard in practice and when they see me doing that they try to work harder and try to get to that next level. And improve. "

Barnes says:"He's finally got the one spot after always playing behind his brother and a couple ode other guys.. But he's stepped up in that one position and he's playing very well."

Before he makes the final push.. To the tournament Tommy just keeps to the basics. And listens to his coach's advice.

Tommy says:"he just talks about staying focused and just getting better every time you go out there and just try to improve your game. "

While the comparisons to his brother may be hard to ignore.. Tommy Entwistle worries about his own game.. As he aims for a state title.
