Storms carrying heavy rain and lightning have caused flooding and house fires in Sioux Falls and other areas of southeastern South Dakota.
Some drivers had their cars stall in Sioux Falls after heavy street flooding in the city.
A lighting strike also caused a fire at a home east of Harrisburg early Sunday morning, but the family got out of the house safely.
Sioux Falls airport reported 2.8 inches of rain, but National Weather Service meteorologist Marc Chenard says between 3 and 5 inches fell in the southwest part of the city. Chenard says there's a chance of storms in the area every night this holiday weekend.
Lincoln County emergency manager Harold Timmerman says water covered some roads in that county.
