MN Woman Travels Midwest, Collecting Money For OK Pets

One woman is passionate on helping more than just the victims affected by Oklahoma. Jennifer Roach is a truck driver who is traveling the Midwest raising money for the ones you may not think about, the animals affected by the storm.

 

“I have dog hair all over the front of me. No outfit in my world is complete without the dog hair,” said Roach.

 

Being an avid animal lover, Jennifer said she knew it’s something she needed to do. Traveling in a box trailer alongside her pet Boli, Jennifer is hitting the road through the Midwest, raising money to help the animals affect by the destruction in Moore, Oklahoma.

“The people have all the help they can get down there and the animals don’t have anybody. That’s where I am stepping in to help,” said Roach.


Jennifer is asking for donations to what she says she’s most passionate about. With just the money in her pocket, she’s taking time off work, something that’s also leaving a strain in her pocketbook.

 

“I have taken literally the last $25 out of my wallet to buy stuff for the animals down there. I’m running this on my own, my own fuel and my own money,” said Roach.


Deciding to raise money and public awareness for the animals in Oklahoma is an easy decision for Jennifer. She has rescued fifteen dogs in the past.
 
“People abandon or abuse their animals or they don’t want them anymore and they end up in my world,” said Roach.

 

With the help of the community, she’s getting the word out. Some are leaving signs in their cars and donating bags of dog food. It’s people like Ben Flottman who are helping her get to where she needs, helping those who can’t help themselves.

 

“We enjoy donating to different organizations. This cause is probably just as important,” said Flottman.

It’s one person with one truck, just trying to make a difference.

 

Jennifer started her journey Saturday in Minnesota. She is leaving Sioux Falls on Sunday and heading to Kansas City. She plans on delivering bags to Oklahoma shelters on Tuesday. If you are interested in donating towards her cause, visit her Facebook page,” 4 Paws Up For OK.”
