Bookmark and Share

ALLEN, TX - The Sioux Falls Storm (10-4) defeated the Texas Revolution (5-9) 52-28 on Saturday night on the road. This win clinches home field advantage for the Sioux Falls Storm in the 2013 IFL playoffs.

The Revolution scored first when quarterback Marcus Jackson connected with wide out Phillip Barnett. Texas added to their lead on their next possession with a 43-yard field goal making it 10-0 Revolution over the Storm.

With roughly four minutes to go in the first quarter, Storm wide out Mike Tatum broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run putting Sioux Falls on the board. The revolution still led 10-7 over the Storm at the end of the first quarter.

Texas began the second quarter with a touchdown through the air from Jackson to  Barnett making it a 17-7 game. Sioux Falls made it a one-possession game on a 21-yard field goal by Parker Douglass.

Sioux Falls forced a turnover, which led to a game-tying touchdown on a 5-yard pass from Terrance Bryant to wide out James Terry.

The Revolution answered right back when Jackson connected with Barnett for the third time of the game. With 6:01 to play in the second quarter, Texas led the Storm 24-17.

Late in the second quarter the revolution increased their lead 31-17 on a quarterback keeper touchdown by Jackson. Douglass kicked in a field goal for Sioux Falls as time expired in the quarter. At the half the Revolution led the Storm 31-20.

Sioux Falls scored quickly to start the third quarter when running back Tory Harrison ran in a 5-yard touchdown. Texas still led but a one-point rouge on the ensuing kickoff made it only a 31-28 lead for the Revolution.

The Storm continued to ride the momentum train with a huge defensive stop to give the offense the ball back. The offense was halted and settled for a game tying field goal by Douglass, which was successful.

Sioux Falls returner Roy Polite brought back a missed field goal to the Texas one-yard line when he fumbled. Storm player Patrick Wells recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown.

The Storm led 38-31 at the end of the third quarter on 18 unanswered points.

Sioux Falls continued their hot streak into the forth quarter when quarterback Martevious Young ran in a 2-yard touchdown giving the Storm a 45-31 lead.

The Revolution finally broke the cold streak when Jackson ran in a 5-yard quarterback keeper making it a seven-point game with the Storm still leading.

The Storm answered right back when Young connected with wide out Clinton Solomon for a 3-yard touchdown pass. The Storm extended their lead to 52-38 where it stood at the end of regulation giving Sioux Falls the big win.

Next week the Sioux Falls Storm host the Cedar Rapids Titans in the United Conference Championship game.  The game will be held at the Storm Shelter with a 7:05 kick off. The winner advances to the 2013 IFL Championship game.
