MIAMI, FL --
Mitchell native Mike Miller's championship ring collection grew on Thursday night.
Miller and the Miami Heat defeated San Antonio 95-88 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals to win their second consecutive NBA Championship.
Miller started his fourth consecutive game in the Finals but failed to score in 19 minutes of play. He had two assists and two steals.
It could be the end of the a successful basketball journey for the former Mitchell Kernal. Injuries have plagued Miller throughout his last three seasons, and this year he averaged a career low 15 minutes per game.
In a way, that actually might have helped. Miller seemed re-energized after the time off, entering Game 7 11-14 from beyond the arc.
"Well being long in the tooth you've got to mix it up a little bit different. Obviously it's whatever it takes at this point. I haven't played a whole lot of minutes this year so my body actually feels good. Obviously after this you get banged up a little bit but for the most part my body feels good and it's about getting in the fight right now. It's what ever it takes." Miller said.
