Update: Morning Apt. Fire In Sioux Falls

Bookmark and Share

Sioux Falls fire officials say no one was injured in an apartment building fire likely cause by improperly disposed ashes.

Crews found heavy fire on the exterior of the three-story apartment building when they arrived at about 9:15 a.m. Monday, but the 21 firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within the first ten minutes on scene.

Firefighters checked the exterior siding and plywood and found that no fire extended into the building.

For one resident of the apartment, this fire wasn't her first.

“You never know what to grab. You always do the back and forth shuffle as to what you grab. And it never comes easy,” said Brooke Luond.

Luond said her neighbor was running through the building screaming and alerting her neighbors of the fire.
