When the construction season is over, the City of Sioux Falls will have improved 290 miles of road since 2010.
In that time, Director of Public Works Mark Cotter says the city will have invested $126.7 million in street improvements and reconstruction. That includes many construction projects that are currently under way.
One of the biggest projects is at the intersection of 57th Street and Western Avenue. Turning lanes will be added to the intersection in all directions and Western Avenue South of 57th Street will be widened from a two lane to a four lane road.
"This is the most visible construction project in the city this year, a key expansion project simply to move traffic, to remove driver delay," said Director of Sioux Falls Public Works Mark Cotter.
The project is expected to be complete by October. Officials say it will reduce driver delay in that area by 35 percent.
