State B Tournament Moves To 2nd Round

Bookmark and Share

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --  The State B Amateur Baseball Tournament began second round play on Sunday evening at the Birdcage.

Akron topped Wynot 8-5 to move into Thursday's 6 PM quarterfinal.  They'll face the winner Winner/Colome who bested Lesterville 10-3.

Saturday night's heavy rains forced several first round games to be moved to Sunday afternoon at Ronken Field on the Augustana campus.  Canova defeated Volga 12-2 and Crofton knocked off Lake Norden 6-3.

In the regularly scheduled first round games Parkston beat Britton 11-1.  In perhaps the most bizarre, and heartwarming, game of the tournament, Tabor defeat Lennox 6-5 in ten innings.  The winning run came into score when Wes Kloucek was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  Kloucek celebrating by proposing to his girlfriend.  She accepted!
